Tip: Respell notes automatically
- You can easily respell notes automatically to better fit the musical context.
- Make a selection which contains the notes that need respelling.
- Choose Write > Respell > Respell Notes Automatically… and press OK.
Tip: Move bar to the previous or next system
- In Engrave mode, select an item in the bar you wish to move.
- Move the bar to the next system, or the previous system.
- You can use key commands to move bars to the next system (period), or the previous system (comma).
- You can move multiple bars at once, including across frames and pages.
Tip: Add music symbols to text objects

- It’s easy to add a music symbol to text.
- In a text frame, right-click and choose Insert Music Text…
- You can browse categories of symbols, or search for the one you need.
- You can also add music symbols to staff- or system-attached text.
Tip: Define a player as a soloist

- In Setup mode, add or choose the player that is to be your soloist.
- Click Player Settings (or right-click) and choose Soloist.
- The player is placed in the conventional score position, and bracketed separately from other players.
Tip: Convert notes to grace notes (and back again)
- It’s easy to convert notes into grace notes.
- Select the notes, and press the grace note button.
- Long press the button to choose slashed or unslashed, or press Alt+/.
- Unslashed grace notes keep their rhythmic position, so it can be useful to engage Insert mode.
- Convert grace notes to normal notes the same way.
- Toggle notes and grace notes with the key command / (slash).
Tip: Flip items in Dorico to celebrate Pancake Day
- It is easy to flip objects the other way up, or to the other side of the staff.
- Simply select an item and press F to flip it.
- It works with all kinds of music item, including playing techniques and text.
- Get finer control in Engrave mode, for items such as articulations and ties.
- Sorry, you will still have to flip your own pancakes.

Tip: Change the voice of selected notes with a key press

- Select the notes that should be in a different voice.
- Press the button in the toolbox to put the notes in a new voice.
- The button now cycles between voices.
- Long press the button to create another voice if required.
- Use Shift+V to send notes to a new voice.
- Use V to cycle through existing voices.
- Useful also for swapping the contents of voices.
Tip: Control the scope of Insert mode edits
- Now in Dorico, you can control how much of your music is affected by Insert mode edits.
- Long press the Insert mode button to choose a scope.
- You can choose to affect all voices and music items for a player.
- Choose Global to insert or remove time across the system.
- Extend the current bar to accommodate edits.
- Use the Stop position to protect music after that point.
