Tip: How to create stemless notes
- Select one or more notes.
- Switch to Engrave mode.
- Open the Properties panel.
- Enable the Hide stem property. You may need to scroll to the end of the Notes and Rests section to find it.
Tip: Make use of the powerful Repeats popover
- The Repeats popover can create many different types of repeat-related notations. Open it by pressing Shift+R, then enter any of the following:
- Enter end to add a first and second time ending structure. Enter add to add additional endings.
- Enter / or // or /// etc. to add different numbered tremolos to notes.
- Enter z to add z on stems.
- Enter slash to create a slash region.
- Enter %, %2, or %4 to create bar repeats.
Tip: Hide playing techniques
- Hiding playing technique can be useful when they are needed for playback, but don’t want to see them in the score.
- Select the playing technique, then open the Properties panel and enable the Hidden property.
- By default, Dorico will show a signpost, so that you know the hidden item does exist. It also allows you to select it in the future.
- If you don’t want to see signposts in your score you can switch them off via the View > Signposts menu. There are options to show or hide certain types of signposts, or all of them.
Tip: Turn any notes in tuplets
- Select some notes
- Press the Tuplets button in the toolbox to turn them into triplets.
- Alternatively, press ; to open the popover and then enter a tuplet ratio of your choice.
Tip: How to add a border to text
- Create some text and make sure it is selected.
- Open the Properties panel and enable the Border property.
- In Engrave mode there is an additional property to control the thickness of the border.
