TUTORIALS
Tip: Quickly adapt existing music using Lock to Duration
- Enable note input at the start of the passage you wish to rewrite using the same note durations.
- Click the Lock to Duration button in the Notes toolbox, or use the key command L.
- Dorico will lock the position and durations of the existing notes making it very quick and easy to re-input your music with different pitches.
Tip: Use indexed tokens to insert titles of specific flows
- Tokens can be flow-specific. Simply add the flow index number directly after the word flow in the token, e.g. {@flow2Title@}.
- The flow index number can be found at the bottom-right corner of the flow card in the Flows panel.
Tip: Shorten or lengthen notes
- When note input is active, you can shorten or lengthen the note you have just input by typing Shift+Alt+left or right arrow.
- You can change the amount by which the note is shortened or lengthened by increasing or decreasing the value of the rhythmic grid. The key commands for this are Alt+[ and Alt+].
- You can also edit existing notes to make the shorter or longer by using the same method. And if Insert mode is active (press I) then subsequent notes will move by the same amount).
Tip: Add a translation line to lyrics
- Add a translation line for any line of lyrics when editing using the Shift+L popover.
- Type Alt+down arrow and enter your translated lyrics as normal.
- Dorico will show this translation lyric line in italics.
