- Enable note input at the start of the passage you wish to rewrite using the same note durations.
- Click the Lock to Duration button in the Notes toolbox, or use the key command L.
- Dorico will lock the position and durations of the existing notes making it very quick and easy to re-input your music with different pitches.
I use lock duration all the time to quickly enter rhythms, slurs, ornaments and all sorts of other markings all before I add the pitches on a second pass. Recently the lock duration mode automatically shuts off when it encounters an arbitrary number of bars rest, where it used to skip to the next note regardless of how long the instrument wasn’t playing. Is there a way to resume the old behaviour? I find myself having to go back when it suddenly starts inputting dozens of the same note value when it encounters a 4-bar rest.
