The best way those of us who are not working on the front lines in the fight against the global coronavirus pandemic can help our fellow citizens is to follow the advice of our countries’ governments and the World Health Organisation: stay at home, keep your distance, wash your hands. These social distancing measures are affecting billions of people around the world at the moment, including hundreds of millions of musicians, music teachers, and students. We at Steinberg want to help those who are currently staying at home in whatever small way we can, and today we have made available the #StayHome Elements Collection, a suite of our most popular music creation and production software, completely free to download and use for a period of 60 days.
In addition to Dorico Elements, you will get access to our entry-level DAW, Cubase Elements, our audio editing and mastering package, WaveLab Elements, and the complete Absolute Collection, providing thousands of incredible sounds across an array of different virtual instruments.
All of the software is available for both macOS and Windows, and it’s easy to download and install using Steinberg Download Assistant. To take advantage of the #StayHome Elements Collection, all you need to do is sign in with your Steinberg ID to receive the activation code you need by email.
If you need a bit of additional help in getting the software installed, check out these videos. For Dorico Elements, the procedure is the same as described in this video about Dorico SE, except that you should choose Dorico Elements instead of Dorico SE in Steinberg Download Assistant:
Here is how to download, activate and install Cubase Elements:
You’ll find further helpful tutorial content on the Dorico, Cubase, WaveLab and VST Instruments YouTube channels.
We hope that using the #StayHome Elements Collection provides a creative outlet in these difficult and unprecedented times. All of us at Steinberg hope that you and your loved ones stay safe throughout this crisis. If we can be of any support and assistance at this time, don’t hesitate to reach out to us via social media or our forums.
Can we upgrade an existing Dorico SE to Dorico Elements using this #Stayhome package?
If so, how?
Thank you. Your product is amazing.
@J. Donovan: Thanks for getting in touch. You can certainly take advantage of the #StayHome Elements Collection: simply request the activation code and enter it into eLicenser Control Center, and when you run Dorico, it will then run as Dorico Elements for the next 60 days instead of Dorico SE. It will then return to being Dorico SE at the end of the 60-day period. If you have any problems with this, just let me know: drop me a line at d dot spreadbury at steinberg dot de and I’ll be pleased to help.
I am extremely grateful for this generous offer. However, I have now installed (and deleted) Dorico 3 and the accompanying sound library three times. As a 25+-yr user of another notation program, I’m extremely intrigued and excited about Dorico. I’ve been able to do a tiny bit with it, but it 1) crashes randomly, 2) will not install the sound libraries. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, and I’ve checked everywhere I can. I’ve watched all the videos that seem relevant. I’m using a late 2015 iMac with 24 GB of RAM and over 100GB of free HD space, so I think I’m fine there. Any advice would be helpful, as I’d like to look more before my free trial runs out, but I don’t know how much more time I can spend on it. Thanks, and – other users, don’t be discouraged by this post. **I think it’s certainly worth trying** Dorico has a beautiful interface, for starters, and that’s why I’m frustrated, that I can’t get it to work.
@Nicholas: I’m very sorry to hear that you experienced stability problems when you tried Dorico on your Mac. If you’d like to try again, I’d be happy to help you try to troubleshoot it. Please email me at d dot spreadbury at steinberg dot de and we’ll figure out the next steps to take.
Should I purchase the Dorico pro 2 retail version for my classroom and worship services? If so, can I use my mac book or should I stick to my Dell lab top?
@Stephen: The current version of Dorico is version 3.5, and you can run this on either your MacBook or your PC laptop.
